Lions WR Jameson Williams is reportedly facing a two-game suspension for violating the performance-enhancing substance policy

According to ESPN's Eric Woodyard, Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams faces a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

It's unclear what Williams did to violate PES guidelines, but he said he had “no choice but to make light of it.”

The league has not yet announced the suspension, although it appears Williams will not appeal. Once it's official, he'll be eligible to return for the Lions' game against the Houston Texans on November 10th.

Williams has rushed for 361 yards and three touchdowns so far this season, both career highs, and has 17 catches so far. Williams is also averaging 21.2 yards per reception, which is second best in the league behind Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. He is also second on the team in both receiving yards and touchdowns behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

The Lions selected him first in the 2022 NFL Draft with number 22 out of Alabama. The 23-year-old had just one catch and lost 4 yards in the Lions' 31-29 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Williams was also suspended four games last year for betting on non-NFL games in 2022. He was initially suspended for six games, but the suspension was reduced after the league adjusted its gambling rules and penalties. He missed the first 11 games of his rookie season while recovering from an ACL injury he suffered in college, so he has yet to play a full season in his NFL career.

Detroit improved to 5-1 on the season after Sunday's win in Minneapolis, which marked its fourth straight. The win also gave them a slight lead over the Vikings in the NFC North race.

The Lions host the Tennessee Titans this weekend. They then travel to Green Bay next weekend to face the Packers as Williams completes his suspension.
