The Buccaneers WR left the field with a leg injury

play

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin was carted off the field late in the Buccaneers' 41-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Godwin took a shot off Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith with less than a minute to play in the Monday Night Football duel. ESPN declined to show a replay of the hit, and after returning from a brief commercial break, the broadcast showed Godwin on a cart, his left leg in the air.

The injury was a blow to a Buccaneers team that also lost receiver Mike Evans to a hamstring injury early in the game.

After the game, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles told reporters that Godwin had a dislocated ankle, which would keep the receiver out indefinitely.

Update on Chris Godwin's injury

Godwin appeared to have suffered a lower leg injury in the Buccaneers' 41-31 loss on “Monday Night Football.” It took less than a minute for the receiver to go down and require assistance from medical personnel.

ESPN did not show a replay of Smith's hit on Godwin and the exact nature of the injury was initially unknown. Godwin had to be carried off the field and his left leg was in a cast.

After the game, Bowles told reporters that Godwin had dislocated his ankle and “it doesn't look good.” The future status of the recipient is unclear.
