REPORT: Lions WR Jameson Williams faces a two-game suspension

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams faces a two-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances (PES), according to a report from ESPN.

According to NFL PES policy, a player will be suspended for two games if he or she tests positive for a “stimulant, diuretic or masking agent.”

This is the second time in as many years that Williams has faced a suspension. Last year, the young receiver was initially suspended for six games for violating the league's gambling policy. It was later reduced to four games.

It's a blow to Detroit's high-powered offense and another setback to Williams' career. In addition to missing four games due to a suspension last year, he also missed almost his entire rookie season as he recovered from a torn ACL suffered in the National Championship game before the Lions drafted him to 12th in 2022 . selected overall rank.

In the third year of his Lions career, Williams finally got going. In six games, he has 17 catches for 361 yards and three touchdowns. In his final two years combined, he had just 25 catches for 395 yards and three touchdowns.

Now his third-year breakthrough must be put on hold for the next two weeks. Assuming the suspension continues, he will miss this week's game against the Tennessee Titans and the NFC North showdown with the Green Bay Packers the following week at Lambeau Field.

Williams gave the following statement to ESPN's Eric Woodyard.

“No choice but to take it on the chin. I am in good spirits and ready to return to my brothers as soon as possible.”

The suspension has not yet been announced by the NFL and the Lions have not yet commented on the situation.
