Law enforcement authorities take a stand in the Delphi double murder trial

The defense of Richard Allen – the man accused of killing Delphi teenagers Abby Williams and Libby German in 2017 – is questioning the investigation of the crime scene.

We'll hear their specific concerns Monday as they examine those who helped document the crime scene – some taking the stand today.

In a lengthy statement – Sgt. Jason Page, a crime scene investigator with ISP, explained how he photographed the crime scene and the victims.

The prosecution used its time to question Sergeant. page to highlight his experience in this field.

The defense spent time questioning why some elements of the scene were not better documented or tested.

This included why the sticks attached to the girls' bodies were not immediately recovered – an ISP CSI returned weeks later and picked them up.

Those in attendance said what was not collected or tested did not meet the criteria for what would be helpful to the investigation.

For example, it would be difficult to obtain DNA from the rods.

However, the defense has been vocal about its distrust of the investigation.

Relentless – Defense attorney Brad Rozzi asked Sgt. Page about the cartridge found between the girls that was linked to a gun owned by Allen.

Rozzi said the unspent bullet was lying face down in the ground and the photo investigators took at the crime scene couldn't fully show it.

He asked why several times and said that in a case like this, being able to see these markings was crucial.

Sergeant. Page says the CSI did not ask for additional photos.

Rozzi is not satisfied with his answers, he says

“There is another end to this round… we don't know what that bullet looked like in this case.”

Court proceedings have concluded for today and will resume on Tuesday morning.
