In a recent episode of Fabulous Lives vs Bollywood Wives, actress Neelam Kothari shared a deeply personal moment with director and producer Ekta Kapoor, where she spoke about her first marriage to Rishi Sethia, her subsequent divorce and how her daughter Ahana Discovered news online.

Neelam spoke about the circumstances that led to her divorce from Rishi Sethia. After her marriage, she moved to another country where she faced significant pressure to change aspects of her life.

“I was told to wear Indian clothes and avoid non-veg and alcohol. I was fine with everything. “I was also asked to change my name and I did,” she explained, adding, “I got to a point where I asked myself, 'How can I let this happen?'”

Neelam shared how the experience affected her self-confidence and recounted moments when she was recognized in public but had to deny her identity. “There have been several times when I was in a supermarket or having lunch and someone came up to me and asked, 'Are you Neelam, the actress?' And I had to say, 'No, I'm not Neelam,'” she said.

During the episode, Neelam expressed her dismay over how her daughter came to know about her divorce. Recalling an emotional incident, she said, “I was coming from work and Ahana was with her friends. Usually they are always jumping around, screaming and shouting. But this time there was absolute silence.”

Neelam further revealed that Ahana confronted her and asked, “Mom, you never told me that you are divorced.” Neelam described her shock at that moment. “I just died. I was at a loss. I was at a loss for words,” she said.

She asked Ahana how she knew this, to which Ahana replied, “'You are a celebrity, so my friends and I googled you. The first thing that came up was that you were divorced. You were married.'” Neelam admitted that this was far from what she wanted her daughter to know about her past.

After her divorce from Sethia, Neelam found love again and married actor Sameer Soni in 2011. The two adopted Ahana in 2013.
