Is Tua Tagovailoa playing today?

The Miami Dolphins, coming off a bye week, will face the Indianapolis Colts today at Lucas Oil Stadium at 1 p.m., but not with Tagovailoa under center.

Tagovailoa, who was in the protocol with a concussion and on injured reserve, will not be allowed to return to the practice field until Oct. 23. On October 14, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said he expected Tagovailoa to return this season. According to a report from The Athletic, the planned return date for training is Wednesday, October 23rd.

Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL's chief medical officer, recently said that Tagovailoa is seeing “top experts” across the country to diagnose his concussion. Sills said it's up to those experts, not the NFL, to figure out when Tagovailoa can play again if he chooses.

If he returns to practice on October 23rd, he could potentially be eligible to play at home against the Arizona Cardinals on October 27th.

The Dolphins went 1-2 without him this season, losing games to the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans before picking up a win over the New England Patriots.

During the time without Tagovailoa, the Dolphins started Sklar Thompson and Tyler Huntley at quarterback, with Tim Boyle replacing Thompson after an injury.

How many concussions has Tua Tagovailoa had?

Tua Tagovailoa has suffered at least three concussions in his career. He suffered his first reported injury in 2022 against the Cincinnati Bengals. That same season, he suffered another head injury against the New York Jets, which was later added to the concussion protocol.

And his most recent loss came in Week 2 of this season against the Buffalo Bills.

Will Tua Tagovailoa retire?

No. According to a report from Ian Rapaport of NFL Media, he has no plans to retire. It is his right and his decision. But maybe it shouldn't be.

When was the last time Tua Tagovailoa played?

Tua Tagovailoa hasn't played since the Dolphins' loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. He left the game early after suffering a concussion. He was placed on the injured reserve list on September 17 and was unable to return until this week.

What are Tua Tagovailoa's stats this season?

Tua Tagovailoa threw for 483 yards while completing 40 of 62 passes. He has thrown three interceptions and two touchdowns in two games this year.

What is the Dolphins' record without Tua Tagovailoa?

The Dolphins have a 4-9 record in games without Tua Tagovailoa since he became the starter in Week 8 of the 2020 season. This also includes the double appearance without him this season.

They are 33-20 when he starts for them since he was drafted.
