Chris Christie rips out “no class” Dan Campbell for the Lions' stunning win over the Cowboys

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie didn't sugarcoat his feelings toward Lions coach Dan Campbell after Detroit embarrassed the Cowboys with a 47-9 win last Sunday.

During a recent appearance on Chris “Mad Dog” Russo's “Mad Dog Unleashed” podcast, Christie, a die-hard Dallas fan, criticized Campbell's character and said he acted classless while making trick plays on the Lions' offensive lineman.

Russo asked Christie if he had a problem with Campbell “interfering” and making trick plays when his team had a significant lead.

“This is Dan Campbell,” said Christie, who attended Game 4 of the NLCS between the Mets and Dodgers at Citi Field on Friday. “He doesn’t have any classes. Never.

“It's okay. It's okay. Look, Dan Campbell, that’s who he is, and what goes around comes around.”

Russo recalled when Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell's touchdown was rejected because center Frank Ragnow was illegally sidelined in the second half – and added that Campbell was trying to get back at the Cowboys for the officiating controversy to avenge last year.

The Lions were upset with referees in their 2023 loss to the Cowboys at AT&T Stadium, 20-19, after offensive tackle Taylor Decker's two-point conversion was canceled when it was ruled that Decker was not an eligible receiver.

“Look, I think it’s misguided. “Dan Campbell is angry because the referees made a wrong call in the game a year ago,” Christie said. “Well then, you know, run the piece on Roger Goodell.

“The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly, it wasn’t a challenge that the Cowboys made. It was the referees' decision. The Lions were hurt by this. The Cowboys benefited from this. But now you want to climax for this reason, and while you're beating the hell out of these guys, you can own it.

“I don’t think professionals do that. But it is his prerogative. It’s the reputation that he’s going to carry with him… And honestly, I think people think that’s his reputation now anyway.”

The Lions took care of business on the road against the Cowboys, despite losing star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who suffered a broken tibia and fibula in the third quarter.

He underwent surgery and is expected to miss four to six months.

The Cowboys' loss to the Lions was their worst home loss since owner Jerry Jones bought the team in 1989.

Jones said he felt sick about the loss, which came on his 82nd birthday while he was in the midst of a breakdown during a radio interview Monday.

The Cowboys (3-3) have a bye week before facing the 49ers (3-3) on Oct. 27 in San Francisco.
