The New York Giants host the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon in the first matchup of the year between the two NFC East rivals.

My analysis

The Philadelphia Eagles are finally getting healthier on offense as wide receiver AJ Brown returned last week and is expected to return to full action this week. However, this shouldn't have a major negative impact on fellow top wideout DeVonta Smith, who has only missed one game this season.

Smith leads the Eagles with 303 receiving yards and is tied with Dallas Goedert for the team lead with 24 catches and two touchdowns. He always posed a major threat for the Birds while making the most of his goals, even when they were limited.

The wide receiver has amassed over 60.5 receiving yards in all four games this season and has done so quite easily in his first three games. Last week against the Browns, it was close with 64 yards on three catches (four targets), but a 45-yard touchdown tipped the balance.

The New York Giants defense is in the top half of the league, averaging less than 200 passing yards per game, but we've seen teams with two top wideouts have success against them. Just last week, both Ja'Marr Chase (72 yards) and Tee Higgins (77) rushed for 60.5 yards against New York.

In fact, the Giants have allowed at least one wide receiver to gain over 60.5 yards receiving in each of their last four games – and Justin Jefferson (59) and Noah Brown (56) have narrowly missed in the first two weeks.

Smith has played against the Giants once in his career, catching four passes on five targets for 79 yards and a score in a Week 15 win last year.

Smith has had a touchdown in two of four games this season and the Giants have allowed multiple touchdown passes in three of their six games.

The Eagles have had some close calls this season, but they are still a much better team than their division rival. Even away from home, I expect Philly to manage to improve to 4-2.
