To the editor:

Early voting begins on Monday, October 21st at 10 a.m. It lasts 14 consecutive days and ends on Sunday, November 3rd at 6 p.m. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day except October 29th and 31st, which are 8 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Early voting will take place at the Registrar of Voters office in the Community Center at 3 Primrose Street. If you are not registered to vote and are eligible to register, you may do so when you come to vote. You will need ID, just like you do to vote. We will check you out on the computer, you will receive an envelope and a ballot paper. You vote, fold your ballot in half and put it in the envelope. You seal the envelope and sign it. The employee will check that your envelope is signed and you can then drop it into the bin. You receive a sticker and you're done. You voted.

At the end of the night we receive a printout of all activities for that day. We assign our envelopes to the list. Both parties are represented by sealing the envelopes containing the list and storing them in a locked, fireproof area. The ballot papers will be opened first thing on election morning. The envelopes are cut open and the ballots are placed in one pile and the envelopes in another. The envelopes are sealed and stored, then the ballots are shuffled and then spread out to run through the tabulator and receive the results at the end of the evening. Everything happens with representation from both parties.

The process is simple, safe and secure. You have saved yourself the hassle of going to the polls and can still vote in person.

We look forward to seeing you.
