Pep Biel and Brandt Bronico help Charlotte end DC United's season with a 3-0 win

WASHINGTON (AP) — Pep Biel scored in the 58th minute to make it 3-0 in the second half, Brandt Bronico had two assists and Charlotte secured a 3-0 victory, eliminating DC United from the final playoff The regular season ends on Saturday.

Biel scored his second goal in his ninth game, capitalizing on an assist from Bronico to give Charlotte (14-11-9) the lead.

Patrick Agyemang gave Charlotte a two-goal lead in the 75th minute. Bronico picked up his fifth assist in his first full season in the league with Agyemang's tenth goal.

Rookie Liel Abada completed the scoring in the first minute of added time with an assist from Karol Swiderski. For Abada it was the seventh goal of the season in 20 starts and 24 appearances. Swiderski recorded his second assist and scored six goals in eight starts and ten appearances.

Kristijan Kahlina saved three shots into the goal for Charlotte, which moved one spot to fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. The top four seeds host first-round playoff games. It was Kahlina's 12th shutout of the season.

Alex Bono made four saves for DC United (10-14-10), which lost its spot in the East's wild card game against CF Montreal to Atlanta United.

Charlotte will travel to face Orlando City in a first-round game on Saturday.
