ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – This week was all about royal blue and old gold!

On Saturday morning, hundreds of Albany residents, ASU alumni and students flocked to Pine Avenue to watch the homecoming parade. The floats, posters and participants all bore this year's slogan: “Not Like The Rest… We Are ASU!”

After the parade, everyone headed to the ASU campus for the tailgate to reconnect with familiar faces.

“I'm just happy to be here with all my family and friends and to see all the old faces that I haven't seen for a long time, like thirty years. It’s a lively celebration,” said an ASU graduate.

Many consider ASU's homecoming to be Albany's biggest event of the year. Alumni from all over the world come back to cheer on the Golden Rams. Albany's economy experienced strong growth during this time.

“The Chamber estimates that alumni bring in between $15 million and $20 million to the city. This is a great event for the local economy and just means welcoming our graduates back so they feel as loved and supported as they love and support us,” said Tangela Clements, ASU marketing student.

After a tiring day of parades and traffic jams, all that's left is the highly anticipated football game.

“I had the chance to come to the parade. It was beautiful. The weather is nice, everyone is in a good mood. It doesn't get any better. Now all we have to do is beat Morehouse. Then it will be a perfect day,” said one Albany resident.
