TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Two University of Arizona wildcats found two wildcats at Hi Corbett Field, where the university's baseball team plays.

One of them was Easton Gerou, a student manager for the University of Arizona baseball team. He is responsible for their analysis.

He said Tuesday, Oct. 8, started like any other day.

“I was on the stadium mound getting the bullpens ready,” he said. “Just like a normal Tuesday…”

Until he heard a noise from the away team's dugout. After examining the source, Gerou found “a small, soaking wet baby kitten.”

He found two orange kittens in a mud-covered puddle, so Easton called the team's cat whisperer, student equipment manager Jack Worgum.

Worgum says he immediately came with a box and then went to a pet store to get supplies like kitten food.

“We make sure they are cleaned immediately,” he said. “We provide them with food and they are part of the family.”

Now his girlfriend Lucia Iuliano is taking the two of them in and says that they have already become more comfortable and self-confident.

“They’re a lot more playful,” she said. “When we first got them, they were definitely still looking for their mother. It was very difficult to calm her down.”

She says they now come to work with worgum almost every day.

“I think the team really enjoys having her around,” Worgum said. The players and sometimes even the coaches ask to see the cats.

The University of Arizona baseball communications team says the two kittens may be able to return to Hi Corbett as clubhouse cats when they grow up.
