Couldn't someone please let poor Tom Hardy beat Spider-Man?

Why don't they just let Tom Hardy beat Spider-Man?

That's a question the actor answered himself during an appearance at New York Comic-Con this evening, uttering a spiel that wouldn't have been out of place in the mouth of pro wrestler Crusher Hogan: “I'd like to fight Spider-Man fight,” Hardy announced to the crowd. “I would like to fight him now. I’m 100 percent excited to fight Spider-Man today.”

Unfortunately, Spider-Man didn't immediately volunteer for the ritual fight – after all, according to Tom Holland, his script isn't good enough yet – and so Hardy was forced to take part in a panel Venom: The Last Danceinstead. The upcoming film, which hits theaters in a week, delves into the complicated interplay of professional ego, off-field chaos and sheer athleticism that propelled the Chicago Bulls on the road to championship glory in the late '90s, and no, no, that was Poison-Free ESPN documentaries The last Dancefrom 2020. This film is Strictly speaking about Eddie Brock and his big, sticky friend seemingly getting into serious trouble, with plenty of hints that not everyone's various goosebumps will be intact by the end credits.

Hardy was clear about this The Last Dance will be the final film in this story, calling it “the final piece in this trilogy, and we're really excited about that.” (The producers, meanwhile, were happy to hint at other possible symbiote stories, including one that focuses on the recent major Marvel Villain Knull focused.) But also: “I would never say never,” Hardy remarked, given how he threw a car at Spider-Man. or maybe he's trying to eat his brains. After all, people with good bladder control (or YouTube) have already seen several crossovers between Sony's villain-focused VenomVerse and the Marvel Cinematic Universe; Hardy himself made a brief appearance in 2021 Spider-Man: No Way Homealbeit in a way that didn't allow him to beat any spider people. The whole concept of a Spider-Man universe where there are no Spider-Men has mostly lost its novelty at this point, although the two are still present Poison Films are so much fun that we don't begrudge the project its existence. (Sit down, Morbius; (Nobody's talking to you.) But Hardy clearly has a dream, and we fully support it: Let the Big Goo Man beat Spider-Man. It's what everyone wants!
