Next up for the Huskies is Indiana, which looks incredibly good

Who said there is no self in the team?

Indiana remained the most talked-about story in college football Saturday afternoon as the undefeated Hoosiers warmed up for a home game against Washington by pulverizing previously once-beaten Nebraska 56-7 in front of a sellout crowd in Bloomington, Indiana, and a FOX -TV channel audience.

“We broke their will,” new Indiana coach Curt Cignetti said after the game. “But we’re not the ’76 Steelers.”

Ah, but they're so much better than the typical Indiana team that now boasts an unblemished 7-0 record, 4-0 in conference play, and acts like Michael Penix Jr. is back in town, as healthy as ever, and taking over at quarterback would snap with his former team.

The Hoosiers still haven't trailed on the scoreboard this season and have now gone 28 quarters without trailing.

The 49-point victory over a decent Nebraska team (5-2, 2-2) represented Indiana's largest margin of victory over a Big Ten opponent in school history.

While the Huskies (4-3, 2-2) had Saturday off during their bye week, coach Jedd Fisch would have been wise to instruct his team not to watch that game. The UW and Indiana meet next Saturday at 9 a.m. PST in Indiana.

It appears to be a daunting task for Fisch's team, which has lost its previous conference away games at Rutgers 21-18 and Iowa 40-16 while traveling multiple time zones.

Indiana looks like Ohio State in every aspect of the game. The Hoosiers average more than 200 yards rushing and 300 yards passing per game.

“This is no coincidence,” said Urban Meyer, a former coach at Ohio State, Florida and Utah and a FOX college football analyst. “This is a really, really good football team.”

The Hoosiers are coming off a weak 3-9 season that saw a coaching change from Tom Allen, Penix's coach before coming to UW, to Cignetti, who moved up from James Madison and roiled everyone with his dominance in his coaching debut in Indiana.

A confident and entertaining football leader, Cignetti brought in 13 players from his 11-2 Sun Belt team, signed a total of 27 players from the transfer portal and has used all of those rookies for 80 starts, the most at the FBS level.

“Google it, I win,” Cignetti said.

Fish would be best advised to keep his huskies off the internet too.
