Alabama football transfer Ja'Corey Brooks impresses with Louisville

After former head coach Nick Saban officially retired earlier this year, the Alabama Crimson Tide football program experienced significant roster turnover as numerous players left Tuscaloosa via the transfer portal.

Since then, some of these players have found success in their respective destinations, while others haven't necessarily had as much playing time.

Well, one of those names who has since made a name for himself is wide receiver Ja'Corey Brooks, who transferred from Alabama to Louisville in December, before Saban retired.

Well, Brooks was already a household name from his time with the Crimson Tide. The former five-star recruit was a starter at Alabama who totaled 39 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022 and was on the receiving end of one of the Crimson Tide's best plays from the 2021 season, scoring a 28-yard catch Bryce Young's touchdown pass tied the Iron Bowl with 24 seconds left.

However, Brooks has taken another step this season with Louisville and is currently No. 2 in the ACC in receiving yards while also leading the conference in touchdowns. This season, Brooks has 30 receptions for 572 yards and six touchdowns and is expected to surpass his 2022 total (39 receptions, 674 yards, 8 touchdowns) at Alabama in the near future.

While he was one of the first to leave the portal last offseason, it appears that Brooks is the most impactful transfer to leave the Alabama program to date.
