What you should know

Michigan has already lost more games per season than in the last two seasons combined. The Wolverines were out last week, giving them a chance to regroup after traveling to the West Coast and losing to Washington. Michigan hasn't lost two straight since November 2020.

Jack Tuttle will be making his first start at Michigan but has plenty of experience. He started five games in the Big Ten at Indiana. His Michigan teammates have praised his poise and confidence; He certainly understands the intangibles that playing quarterback at this level requires. Can a passer be dangerous enough to keep the defense honest? Michigan is counting on it.

Bret Bielema pointed to his record as a head coach against Michigan (3-3, with several of those matchups coming while he was at Wisconsin) and is still smarting from the last matchup in 2022. He has brought Illinois to a respectable level at this point the Illini rightly believe they can beat the three-time defending Big Ten champions.

Michigan has won the last six meetings and last lost in Champaign in 2009.
