Age-gap couples may be all the rage on screen, but the couple that really has people giggling and kicking is Meryl Streep, 75, and Martin Short, 74. The 70-something actors who play love interests on Hulu Only murders in the building, sparked dating rumors earlier this year when they looked cozy at the 2024 Golden Globes. This came just months after the revelation that Streep had quietly split from her husband of 40 years, Don Gummer, six years earlier, meaning the doyenne of American cinema was single. (Short's wife, Nancy Dolman, died in 2010.)

Well, there's an exciting update for M&M shippers: On Wednesday, Streep and Short were pictured entering celebrity hotspot Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica. (If this sounds familiar, it's the same Italian restaurant where Bennifer celebrated her first wedding anniversary.) A very gentlemanly pair of shorts led Streep into the restaurant with his hand on her lower back. They then drove off in Streep's white limousine; Shortly played passenger princess.

Representatives for the pair had previously insisted they were just friends. Short denied the Bill Maher rumors Club randomly Podcast in January: “We are not a couple. We're just really close friends.” But the two have since been spotted attending Broadway shows together and even holding hands at the season four premiere Just murders in the building. They are constantly seen making each other laugh. Is it so wrong to imagine them making out over gourmet spaghetti? Lady and the Tramp-Style?
