The first conference matchup between Oregon football and Purdue will feature two teams going in completely different directions.

The No. 2 Ducks (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) are on the cusp of a big Top 3 win over Ohio State in Week 7, increasing their chances of clinching the Big Ten in their first season in the conference win Reach the 12-team College Football Playoff. Meanwhile, the Boilermakers (1-5, 0-3 Big Ten) enter the race as losers of five straight games and are looking for a turnaround.

Oregon and Purdue meet for the fourth time on Friday at 8 p.m. ET at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Ducks lead the all-time series 2-1, including a 38-36 victory on September 12, 2009 in the teams' last meeting. The Boilermakers are 1-1 at home against the Ducks.

Oregon earned a 32-31 win over Ohio State at Autzen Stadium on Saturday, setting off a field rush after the Ducks' monumental victory in their third year under coach Dan Lanning. Oregon football is playing its first season in the Big Ten, proving it belongs in the conference after leaving the Pac-12. Oregon also has conference wins over UCLA (34-13) and Michigan State (31-10).

The Boilermakers opened the season with a 49-0 victory over Indiana State, but lost their last five games by a combined 234-114 to Notre Dame, Oregon State, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Illinois. Purdue sent the Fighting Illini to overtime last week, but fell short in a 50-49 loss.

9:16 p.m.: Spencer Porath missed a 36-yard field goal to put Purdue on the field. The Boilermakers opted for a field goal instead of going for it on 4th-and-4 at the Oregon 18. Ryan Browne completed two passes on the drive, his first two of the game.

9:02 p.m.: Tez Johnson scores on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Dillon Gabriel to give Oregon a 21-0 lead. He was initially close to the end zone, but after a review the call was nullified on the field.

This drive goes six plays for 99 yards and lasts 2:19 minutes. Gabriel is 12 of 13 passing for 209 yards and a touchdown with 11:42 left in the first half.

8:53 p.m.: Ryan Browne lost 5 yards to a QB keeper on second-and-5. After an incompletion, Purdue has to punt. Keelan Crimmins beats the Ducks after a great 39-yard punt from home.

8:48 p.m.: Oregon dominates the first quarter and leads Purdue 14-0. The Ducks had 160 yards of offense in the first quarter, the Boilermakers 54. Oregon averaged 8.9 yards per play. Purdue begins the second quarter with the ball on the Oregon 35 before a second-and-5.

8:38 p.m.: Jordan James is denied a touchdown twice but couldn't be denied a third time on Oregon's second drive. James scores from one yard out on fourth-and-goal to give Oregon a 14-0 lead. James was ruled short on second and third downs, and a replay confirmed the on-field decisions. He wasn't turned down on fourth down.

Oregon's scoring drive takes 11 plays for 80 yards and lasts 4:58 minutes.

8:19 p.m.: Matayo Uiagalelei sacks Purdue quarterback Ryan Browne for an 8-yard loss on a third-and-1 to force a punt for the Boilermakers. After a 41-yard punt, the Ducks start with the ball on their own 20-yard line.

8:11 p.m.: That happened quickly. Oregon takes a 7-0 lead on an 8-yard touchdown run by James Jordan. Gabriel hit Evan Stewart for a 49-yard gain on the fifth play of the drive, setting up the scoring opportunity.

The Ducks run seven plays for 75 yards and have a 3:14 lead on the first drive.

8:03 p.m.: Oregon wins the first coin toss and elects to receive to open the game tonight. Purdue chose to defend the south gate first. Dillon Gabriel and the Ducks will look to strike early.
