    Liberty 13-12 Lynx, 4:15 left, 1st quarter: Collier's 3-pointer falls gently through the net, restoring Minnesota's lead.

    After misses on both ends (including another from Smith), Kayla Thornton hit a 3 to shift the lead the other way.

    Collier turns it around and we take a timeout.

    Liberty 10-9 Lynx, 5:08 left, 1st quarter: Smith misses the ball inside again under heavy pressure. Jones is fouled on the other side and gives New York the lead with two free throws.

    Liberty 8-9 Lynx, 5:28 left, 1st quarter: This time Smith nailed the shot from close range to extend Minnesota's lead. Ionescu responds with a great drive.

    Bad miss for Minnesota, but then Stewart has her third miss of the game. The 30-point scorer in Game 3 doesn't feel comfortable here.

    Collier steals a pass from Ionescu, the Lynx race on the counterattack and McBride hits a three-pointer from the corner.

    Jonquel Jones answers immediately.

    Liberty 3-4 Lynx, 7:45 left, 1st quarter: A few missed shots to start, but Courtney Williams hits a smooth pullup jumper and then feeds Collier for a layup to get the home team out quickly, just like she did in Game 3.

    But Smith misses badly and Laney-Hamilton hits a 3 to get New York on the board.

    Get to know freedom

    Before Caitlin Clarkthere was Sabrina Ionescu – a college player with great skills who made the sport special. You and Breanna Stewart are the most impressive duo the WNBA has ever seen. This year, Stewart is averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, while Ionescu's season stats are 18.2 points and 6.2 assists. Jonquel Jonesthe 2021 league MVP with Connecticut, was a steady third scorer in her second season with the team.

    While Ionescu struggled for much of the contest in Game 3, Stewart managed 30 points and 11 rebounds. Ionescu made the clutch shots late.

    New York had two players in the US squad this summer (Stewart and Ionescu) and two players for Germany – Nyara Sabally And Leonie Fiebich.

    The Liberty posted their best record of the regular season at 32-8. The Lynx finished in second place at 30-10.

    Get to know the lynx

    The coach will be familiar to those who watched the Olympics – it's her Cheryl Reevewho narrowly led Team USA to gold this summer.

    Thanks to Reeve's consistent excellence, he was responsible for all four Lynx championships – every year from 2011 to 2017 Seimone Augustus (newly inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame), Lindsey Whalen (already in the hall), Maya Moore (will definitely be in the hall soon) and Sylvia Fowles (certainly also reverb-bound).

    The key player is now Napheesa Collierthe only Lynx player on the US roster this summer. She averaged 20.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game during the regular season. Kayla McBrideat 32 years old, the oldest player on the team, average 15.0 points, while Courtney Williams was the top distributor with 5.5 assists and 11.1 points per game.

    Two players from Minnesota were represented at the Olympics on teams outside the United States, namely Australia Alanna Smith and Canada Bridget Carleton. Smith is suffering from a back injury.

    Tonight we may finally witness the crowning achievement of the New York Liberty, a star-studded team in their 28-year history that has seen them reach the final five times and come away empty-handed.

    Game 3 was an absolute hit. The Minnesota home crowd was rocking…until it wasn't, as New York fought back and took a stunning win.
