The Mets' Francisco Alvarez argues with the Dodgers' Andy Pages as Game 5 gets tricky

Game 5 of the NLCS was lively despite the lopsided score.

Dodgers outfielder Andy Pages hit a solo home run off Mets starter David Peterson with two outs in the top of the fourth inning, cutting Los Angeles' deficit to 8-2.

He emphatically tossed his bat after hitting the home run, apparently to the dismay of Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez.

He appeared to say something to Pages as he touched home plate, and Pages then waved to Alvarez and shouted something back.

Dodgers reliever Brent Honeywell then hit two Mets batters in the bottom of the inning – Pete Alonso and Tyrone Taylor.

And they made the Dodgers pay – Winker brought in Alonso with a triple and Jeff McNeil later brought Winker in with a sacrifice fly.

And then Mets reliever Reed Garrett drilled Kiké Hernandez in the top of the fifth inning.

And after that, Pages made the Mets pay again with a three-run blast — and he flipped the bat again — as the Dodgers pushed the score to 10-5.

Before the exchange between Alvarez and Pages, Peterson appeared to exchange a few words with Dodgers infielder Max Muncy near first base.

The Mets' desperation was evident in the first innings as they quickly built a large lead.

But after a home run by Mookie Betts in the sixth, the Dodgers made it 10-6, which made things very interesting.
