A former NFL quarterback has been charged with multiple crimes following a crash in Tennessee.

According to ESPN, Jay Cutler was charged with driving under the influence, possession of a handgun under the influence, failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision and implied consent.

Cutler, the Bears' franchise leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, attempts and completions, also played for the Broncos and Dolphins during his 12-year career.

Cutler allegedly struck another vehicle from behind in Franklin, Tennessee, around 5 p.m. on Thursday.

“During their conversation with Cutler, officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol,” a news release said. “Cutler also had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Cutler refused a field sobriety test and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was collected via a blood search warrant.”

According to ESPN, a police search of Cutler's vehicle revealed he was carrying two firearms, including a loaded handgun. He posted bail and was released.

Known for his arm strength throughout his career, Cutler was a first-round pick of the Broncos in 2006 out of Vanderbilt.

Over the course of his career, he accumulated more than 35,000 passing yards and 227 touchdowns. He last played in 2017.
