Disney World and Orlando theme parks are reopening after Hurricane Milton

Disney World and the other Orlando-area theme parks will reopen Friday after Hurricane Milton slammed into Florida.

The theme parks and resorts were temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon, hours before Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, Florida, on Wednesday evening as a Category 3 hurricane. They remained closed Thursday as Milton left Florida for the Atlantic Ocean.

Milton came less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida as a Category 4 storm. More than 230 people have died from Helene, many from flooding in the Appalachian interior, according to the Associated Press.

Here's the current status of theme parks reopening in Milton.
