    Al Michaels took over as full-time play-by-play commentator for “Thursday Night Football” in 2022 when Amazon acquired exclusive broadcast rights. But how much is Michaels' salary for his current gig?

    After 16 years of play-by-play work on NBC's “Sunday Night Football,” Michaels moved to Amazon Prime Video's broadcast of “Thursday Night Football.” He became a full-time commentator at Amazon in 2022 and in the two and a half years since then has broadcast all “TNF” games alongside color commentator Kirk Herbstreit.

    The sports broadcaster's icon, who turns 80 in November, has been criticized by fans and viewers for his lack of enthusiasm during the weekly football broadcast. Michaels cited the relatively poor quality of Thursday's competition as the main reason for his muted comments.

    Initial reports on Michaels' Amazon deal said the contract was for three years, making 2024 his potential final year on the “TNF” floor. When asked about his future last December, the 79-year-old made no commitment to continuing his broadcast career after the 2024 season.

    Al Michael's Salary: How Much Does the Broadcaster Earn?

    Andrew Marchand of the New York Post initially reported that Michaels' contract would be for three years and “more than $30 million,” but that number may have increased.

    About a week after that initial report, in March 2022, Marchand shared that the Amazon deal would be “in Joe Buck's neighborhood.” Buck signed a five-year, $75 million ($15 million per year) contract with ESPN earlier that same month.

    If Michaels' deal is truly in the same ballpark as his “Monday Night Football” counterpart, his contract with Amazon should be worth a total of between $45 million and $48 million ($15 million to $16 million) over three years per year).
