The Cleveland Guardians advanced to the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016.

After winning the American League Central with a record of 92 wins and 69 losses, the Guardians defeated their division rival Detroit Tigers in the American League Division Series.

The ALCS begins on Monday when the Guardians take on the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium.

Guardians player David Fry recently praised Cleveland sports fans.

“It's so cool to see how much they love their sports teams, especially during football season, all that Brownie stuff,” Fry said.

Fry explains that when you walk around Cleveland, you can see how many people are wearing Cleveland sports gear, especially the Browns during football season.

He goes on to express that the atmosphere at their home games against the Tigers in the ALDS was electric.

Fry also points out that Guardians fans know baseball.

In the first postseason series of his career, Fry had 4 hits in 16 at-bats with 1 home run, 5 runs batted in, 3 runs scored, 1 stolen base, 1 walk and 6 strikeouts.

Game 1 against the Yankees begins Monday and Fry will serve as designated hitter and bat second in the batting order.

The Guardians will look to maintain their timely batting performance against a Yankees lineup capable of scoring multiple runs.
