According to a 911 call via Reuters, Liam Payne was drunk and fell “all over the room” before his fatal fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

“We have a guest who is drunk from drugs and alcohol. And, well, he's… When he's conscious, he breaks, he destroys the whole room. And, well, we need you to send someone, please,” the emergency call from the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel said.

“You need to send someone urgently because, well, I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. He has a room with a balcony. And, well, we're a little afraid that he's going to do something that will put him in distress, put his life in danger.”

The caller did not identify Payne by name.

Payne's death was confirmed by authorities in Buenos Aires on Wednesday after he apparently fell from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in the city, local media reported.

Alberto Crescenti, head of the state's emergency medical system, said on Argentine television Todo Noticias that Payne fell into a courtyard of the CasaSur Hotel in Palermo and refused to provide further information about the incident, the outlet reported.

His fall resulted in “extremely serious injuries” and medics confirmed his death at the scene.

Crescenti also told Todo Noticias that authorities were investigating the circumstances and would conduct an autopsy. According to local media reports, Payne was in Buenos Aires to attend One Direction bandmate Niall Horan's concert.

Payne's family also commented on his sudden death.

“We are heartbroken. Liam will live on forever in our hearts and we will remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul,” his family said in a statement, according to the BBC.

“We support each other as a family as best we can and ask for privacy and space during this terrible time.”

Payne's uncle, Roger Harris, told the Daily Mail: “We are all deeply saddened and trying to come to terms with this. I just hope everyone really gives them some privacy and allows them to deal with it. That's all I can say.”

Another relative, speaking at Payne's family home in Wolverhampton, said: “We are deeply shocked by the news.”

Celebrities including Paris Hilton and Charlie Puth took to social media to express their sadness over the loss of the 31-year-old singer.

“So disturbing to hear the news of @Liampayne's passing,” Hilton wrote on her X account along with a crying emoji. “I send love and condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP my friend.”

Puth wrote on his Instagram story that he was “shocked” by his death.

“He was always so nice to me. He was one of the first major artists I had the opportunity to work with,” he continued. “I can't believe he's gone…”

“I'm so upset right now, may he rest in peace,” he added along with a photo and video of the two together.

In 2008, Payne was discovered by Simon Cowell when he auditioned for “The X Factor” at age 14.

Although he was axed, he returned to the show two years later and joined Harry StylesZayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson formed a supergroup that later finished third in the competition.

One Direction signed with Cowell after The X Factor and became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
