Liam Payne's ex-fiancée Maya Henry has filed legal proceedings against her former friend.

The Texas model, 23, has ordered lawyers to send a cease and desist letter to the One Direction star after accusing him of repeatedly contacting her.

The brunette beauty has also accused the 31-year-old singer of compulsively reaching out to her friends and family, including her mother Azteca Henry.

Lawyers for the star told MailOnline: “Maya Henry issued a cease and desist notice to Liam Payne last week after new and worrying information emerged.”

“She has retained attorneys Marco Crawford and Daniel Cerna to represent her.” This is her only comment on the matter at this time.

This is just the latest in the former couple's bitter feud and last week the model accused Liam of exploiting the loyalty of die-hard One Direction fans on social media to shame them.

The singer's three-year relationship with Maya ended in 2022, almost a year after the former couple called off their engagement.

The Strip That Down For Me singer has since moved in with new girlfriend Kate Cassidy, while Maya continues to promote her debut novel Looking Forward – an art-mimicking romance about a girl who falls in love with a pop star.

Maya, the daughter of multimillionaire personal injury lawyer Thomas J. Henry, shared a brutal assessment of Liam with TikTok followers last week, claiming he went to extraordinary lengths to contact her.

“Since we broke up, he's been texting me and blasting my phone, not just from his phone, but it's always from different phone numbers, so I never know where it's coming from,” she said.

“Also, he's going to email me…not just me, but he's going to blow up my mom's phone. 'Is this normal behavior for you?'

The couple were subsequently forced to isolate together during the global pandemic, and Payne later insisted the experience had helped strengthen their relationship.

He told people: “I think we've been through a lot during COVID.” I feel like we came out a little stronger on the other side.

“Most couples who have been married for years have had problems, right? I mean, we’re still very happy to be here together today.”

But Henry scorned any suggestion of closeness, claiming he contacted her friends while they were still together – without her prior knowledge – and has continued this habit since their split.

She added: “He's the one who does weird shit all the time and I just want to add that he literally said that he's the reason he has all these people on his damn Snapchat, which apparently he's had for years, and News is preying on One Direction fans because they are loyal to him.'

The model accused Payne's fan base – the singer has 26.1 million followers on Instagram alone – of being blinded by their loyalty to the singer and their love for his former band One Direction.

She said: “If you constantly support someone, they will never realize that what they have done is bad, or realize it and know that they can get away with what has been happening to them for so many years.”

“Everything is swept under the carpet, everything is hidden for him. “I don't know who the hell is behind all this, but nothing ever comes to light about him.”

She added: “It's hard when you have these people at your throat for telling the truth about things that happened.”

In 2021, shortly after confirming that their engagement was over, Payne admitted that he was to blame in an interview on Stephen Bartlett's Diary Of A CEO podcast.

“At this point, the main thing I feel is that I'm disappointed in myself for continuing to hurt people,” he said.

“That annoys me. I just wasn't very good at relationships. And I know what my relationship pattern currently looks like.

“I'm just not very good at it, so I just need to work on myself before I commit to anyone else.”

He added: “That's what I achieved in my last relationship.” I was just no longer presenting a very good version of myself that I didn't appreciate and that I didn't like. I can honestly say I feel better afterwards.

“I didn't feel good about what I did, but it had to happen. Just a trite way of saying it was best for both of us.”

The couple's engagement followed rumors of a split, but a source close to the lovebirds told MailOnline at the time that they were “definitely still a couple and very happy together.”

The friend explained that they were removing their romance from social media, adding: “Maya and Liam are definitely still a couple and very happy together.”

“Both have been taking a break from social media lately and enjoying each other’s company away from the spotlight.”
