A house fire in Rogers leaves one dead and two injured firefighters

A fire Sunday in Rogers left one person dead and two firefighters injured.

According to the Rogers Fire Department, a home near the intersection of Territorial Road and Fletcher Lane was fully engulfed in fire.

Larry Randall, who works at a local auto repair shop, told 5 EYEWTNESS NEWS that a dog ran toward the shop barking hysterically.

“Somehow he got his attention by saying, 'Follow, follow me,'” Randall said.

The dog led the workers right next door to the burning house. According to authorities, one person was found dead inside. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries: one was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, the other was treated at the scene and released.

“A terrible tragedy,” Randall said. “I mean, when you lose someone in a fire, it’s tragic.”

Brad Hemmesch's family wrote about the loss on Facebook.

“Today we say goodbye to my brother. He died unexpectedly in a house fire at his home,” his sister wrote. “We love you. You will be missed so much!”

Neighbors say Hemmesch owns two dogs. Both survived, but one of them – a gray Cane Corso – is missing.

If you see the dog, you are asked to call the Rogers Police Department at 952-258-5321.
