The Giants fear a serious foot injury to Andrew Thomas

The Giants had to play the last two games without wide receiver Malik Nabers, their rookie sensation.

Now they will have to play without perhaps their most indispensable player, as The Post has learned that left tackle Andrew Thomas is expected to be sidelined with a foot injury.

Thomas injured his foot during a 16-play touchdown drive in the third quarter of Sunday night's 17-7 loss to the Bengals at MetLife Stadium.

He didn't sound optimistic afterward and said he needed an MRI scan to determine the extent of the damage.

It is believed that this could be a significant injury. If the foot is affected, there is concern that it could be a Lisfranc injury, an injury to the bones or ligaments, or both, in the midsection of the foot.

A Lisfranc joint injury often results in damage to the cartilage.

Sometimes surgery is necessary, and if not, wearing a boot for several weeks or months is often the therapy needed.

Thomas consulted with the Giants' medical staff and is also seeking second opinions from outside medical sources.

According to NFL Network, he was in Charlotte on Tuesday and met with Dr. Robert Anderson, a podiatrist.

It is believed that one of the options being discussed is surgery.

This will be a huge blow to the Giants. The most stable position group on the field in their 2-4 start to the season was the offensive line, as all five starters played 100 percent of the snaps in the first six games.

Thomas hasn't had his best season by his lofty standards, but he's a top-notch left tackle and the Giants don't have anyone on their roster even remotely capable of playing at his level.

The likely move for Sunday's game against the Eagles would be to insert Josh Ezeudu at left tackle in Thomas' place.

Ezeudu, a 2022 third-round pick, started five games last season and didn't look like he was the answer at tackle – he was originally slotted at guard.

Another, far more radical move would be to move veteran right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor to left tackle and bring Evan Neal off the bench to play right tackle.

Neal, the 2022 first-round pick (No. 7 overall), started 13 games as a rookie and seven in 2023 before injuries struck.

He hasn't played on offense at all this season. This move would disrupt two positions instead of one.

Another personnel deployment option for the offensive line: put Eluemunor at left tackle — he has played on that side in his career — and put Ezeudu at right tackle.

After the loss to the Bengals, Thomas said his foot “didn't feel good” and revealed that it was “sore.” He looked depressed and worried.

Thomas played in 16 games in 2020 and again in 2022.

He has had problems with his ankle in the past, requiring two offseason surgeries. He hasn't missed a single game so far this season.

The Giants' 2023 season was derailed after Thomas suffered a hamstring strain in the opener and missed the next seven games. Now they will try to avoid that downfall this season.
