2024 has been a very quiet time for Blackpink as a group, but when it comes to the members and their individual careers, that's not entirely true. The second half of this year is going to be a busy one for the four women who make up the popular girl group, and things just got a little more exciting starting Friday (October 11).

Jennie, one of Blackpink's four singers, has released her latest solo single. Fans of the star wasted no time in making “Mantra” a smash — at least when it came to first-day sales.

At the time of writing, “Mantra” is topping the iTunes charts in the US. Jennie's new single shot straight to No. 1 on the list of best-selling songs on the major platform in America, beating some big players in the industry who also have exciting new releases.

There are currently several brand new titles in the top 10 of the American iTunes rankings, but also one that is not really “new” but is still on the rise. Jennie beats her competitors for the throne, which include BTS singers Jin, Jerry Cantrell and Cody Johnson.

“Mantra” is the first single from Jennie’s upcoming debut solo album. At the moment there are few details about this project as she is probably working out a plan for singles and videos and when the track will be released.

Jennie has released music on her own before, but she has never released a full album, which will be the case soon. In 2018, she released a single EP appropriately titled: Solowhich revolved around a single of the same name.

Last year was a big one for Jennie as she launched her acting career in the western world as the lead in the TV series The Weeknd The idol. As part of this program, she recorded and released the song “One of the Girls” with her collaborators Lily Rose Depp and The Weeknd. This song was a huge worldwide hit and gave Jennie her first Hot 100 hit without her bandmates.

Lisa, a fellow Blackpink singer, is also busy with her solo career, having released three singles in the last few months, including “Moonlit Floor,” which was released a week ago. While things have been pretty quiet around Jisoo so far, the last Blackpink star Rosé recently announced her first complete collection of her own. Rosie. No music has come from this project yet, but the project is expected in December, so a single is likely on the way.
