Man Utd 0-3 Tottenham: Gary Neville criticizes Manchester United's 'absolutely disgusting' performance | Football News

Gary Neville has described Manchester United's performance in their 3-0 defeat to Tottenham as “absolutely disgusting”.

Spurs cruised to victory at Old Trafford, dominating the game even before Bruno Fernandes was sent off before half-time.

Even the dismal 3-0 result flattered United as Tottenham posted an XG of 4.67.

Bruno Fernandes receives a red card for a serious attack on James Maddison.

“The first half was as bad as it can be,” said Neville Sky Sports'Comment on the game.

“This is a shocking day, a sobering day. This is a really bad day for Ten Hag.”

Although Fernandes was unlucky to receive a straight red card as the midfielder slipped as he attempted to tackle James Maddison, his dismissal did not elicit sympathy from Neville.

“That sums up Manchester United in the first half. They were an absolute disgrace.”

“It's one of the worst performances I've seen under Ten Hag. And that's saying something. It’s really bad.”

After six games this season, United are only 12th in the table and have less than half the point to leaders Liverpool.

Neville later added: “Today shocked me at how far they have fallen.”

Redknapp: Ten Hag looks overwhelmed

Neville's Sky Sports colleague Jamie Redknapp was equally impressive.

“It gets to the point where you almost feel sorry for the manager,” said Redknapp. “He seems completely overwhelmed, it looks like he is struggling to motivate his team.”

“Man Utd and Ten Hag are regressing. You can’t complain anymore, he has his back four in place, he has all the players available – there are no excuses.”

“They are at their lowest point at the moment. I just don't see where they can go from here. They are as bad as I have ever seen a United team.”

“It's embarrassing. A club of this size shouldn’t be able to deliver such performances.”

Analysis: Abysmal United were embarrassed

Sky Sports' Melissa Reddy at Old Trafford:

“Even with a 3-0 deficit, this result is hugely flattering to Manchester United.”

“They've had some horror shows in recent years, but this is one of their most dysfunctional performances.” They were miserable in terms of discipline and fundamentals, both in and out of possession.

“They were embarrassed before Bruno was sent off, so that can’t be used as an excuse.”

“United were bowled out by a Spurs side who certainly can’t believe what an easy night they had at Old Trafford.”
