The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will make its comeback on October 15th for the first time in five years.

The show's big return will take place in New York City, the same location where the first show debuted in 1995. Earlier this year, the lingerie brand announced in a statement on Instagram that the show would be returning.

“We have read the comments and listened to you. The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love – glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment and more! Stay tuned… it only gets more iconic from here,” it said.

Victoria's Secret canceled the show in 2019 after the show was criticized for inclusivity on the runway and posted its lowest ratings ever.

CHER WILL GO ON VICTORIA'S SECRET RUNWAY AFTER A CASTING CONTROVERSY ARISES

The brand's then-head of marketing, Ed Razek, also caused a stir after making controversial statements in a 2018 interview with Vogue in which he said the show would not feature transgender models because it was it is a “fantasy”. Shortly after the comments were posted, Victoria's Secret released an apology from Razek.

In 2023, Victoria's Secret released a filmed version of a fashion show on Prime Video ahead of the official relaunch that year.

Tyra Banks is expected to don her angel wings for the first time in nearly 20 years on Tuesday night.

Other “Angels” expected to walk the runway include Gigi Hadid, Paloma Elsesser, Imaan Hammam, Candice Swanepoel, Grace Elizabeth, Taylor Hill, Mayowa Nicholas, Devyn Garcia, Barbara Palvin, Behati Prinsloo, Ashley Graham, Jasmine Tookes and Adriana Lima.

Victoria's Secret announced in September that Cher would be headlining that evening.

“It's a woman's world, so it goes without saying that there can't be a fashion show without the mother of fashion herself – @Cher!” The official Instagram account captioned her announcement.

“We are thrilled to announce that she will be officially appearing at the 2024 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on October 15th. But she won't be alone… stay tuned for more announcements to round out our first-ever women's lineup,” it continued.

Since its debut nearly 30 years ago, the show has faced a number of criticisms. From Heidi Klum's iconic $12 million fantasy bra to Gisele Bündchen seamlessly evading PETA protesters on the 2002 runway, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has been making headlines for decades.

Bella Hadid's awkward encounter with her ex

In 2016, Bella Hadid walked the Victoria's Secret runway when her ex-boyfriend The Weeknd was the evening's musical guest.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, was singing his hit “Starboy” when the former couple looked awkwardly at each other as Hadid walked down the runway.

Hadid and Tesfaye had an on-again, off-again romance that lasted from 2015 to 2019. The former couple has since moved on and Hadid is currently dating cowboy Adan Banuelos.

Heidi Klum's $12 million fantasy bra

During her tenure as a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1998 to 2010, Klum had several iconic looks. The most talked about look, however, is her $12 million fantasy bra that she wore during the 2001 fashion show.

The Heavenly Star Bra was designed by Mouawad and it was the first year that the Victoria's Secret fashion show was televised.

Gisele Bündchen dodged the PETA protesters

In 2002, Bündchen was in the middle of her runway walk when PETA protesters jumped on stage to disrupt the Victoria's Secret fashion show.

At the time, Bündchen — a veteran runway model — was bombarded by activists holding “Gisele: Fur Scum” signs.

The protest, which was directed at Bündchen, was in response to her newly signed contract with furrier Blackgama.

As the protesters stood on the stage, Bündchen continued her walk, seemingly unfazed by the incident. In 2018, she told Vogue how the PETA protest changed the course of her modeling career and allowed her to rethink certain campaigns she attached her name to.

“It was only this shock that stopped me. They sent me all these videos. I didn’t know what was happening and I was devastated,” Bündchen told the outlet at the time. “So I said, 'Look, I don't do fur campaigns.'”

Taylor Swift's bold performance

In 2014, Taylor Swift took off her own underwear while performing with the Victoria's Secret Angels.

Swift, then 24, stepped out in London wearing a black bra, high-waisted underwear and a black lace cover-up. She also wore a pink satin robe and matching nightgown.

Before the show began, Swift walked the red carpet in a white dress with a sheer bodice and a thigh-high slit.

The Native American-inspired look is controversial

In 2015, the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show received backlash after incorporating Native American-inspired looks into its show.

Back then, Karlie Kloss walked the runway in a floor-length feather headdress, leopard-print underwear and high heels. She was also decorated with fringe and turquoise jewelry during a section meant to represent the twelve months of the year – fireworks in July, rain gear for April, and a headdress for November.

According to the Associated Press, the brand apologized at the time and promised not to promote that specific look in future marketing or broadcasts.

“We sincerely apologize as we had absolutely no intention of offending anyone,” the company said at the time.

HALSEY slams Victoria's secret fashion show for 'lack of inclusivity'

Historically, headdresses are a symbol of respect worn by Native American war chiefs and warriors. For the Great Plains tribes, for example, each feather on a headdress had meaning and had to be earned through an act of compassion or bravery. Some modern-day Native American leaders have received war bonnets in ceremonies accompanied by prayers and songs.

Irina Shayk showed off her baby bump for the first time

When Irina Shayk was six months pregnant, she walked the Victoria's Secret runway and showed off her baby bump for the first time.

At the time, Shayk and Bradley Cooper were expecting their first child. They welcomed their daughter Lea in March 2017.

During the 2016 show in Paris, Shayk tried to hide her growing belly with two different looks.

In one, the model wore a red lace bra with matching underwear and paired it with a beaded fringe jacket tied just above her stomach. In the second look, Shayk wore a trench coat with matching gray underwear underneath.

Ariana Grande was hit with “angel wings.”

In 2014, Ariana Grande made a guest appearance during the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

During her performance, Grande was accidentally hit by Elsa Hosk's “Angel” wings as she walked the runway.

In a photo that has since gone viral, Grande can be seen cowering, seemingly afraid of the sharp object attached to Hosk's back.

The Victoria's Secret fashion show will air on Tuesday, October 15 at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on Amazon Live and Amazon Prime Video, as well as Victoria's Secret Instagram, YouTube and TikTok.
