Jets fans aren't convinced that trading Davante Adams will change the trajectory of the playoffs

Jets fans aren't buying it. Or if so, they don't buy everything.

Nearly two-thirds (2,368 of 3,565 at the time of writing) of fans who took part in a poll in the Post's recent coverage of the Davante Adams trade said they don't believe the acquisition will make Gang Green one Playoff team makes.

Adams lands with the Jets just one day after their devastating 23-20 loss to the Bills on “Monday Night Football” at MetLife Stadium.

Had the Jets avoided 110 yards worth of penalties, had Aaron Rodgers staged a fourth-quarter comeback, or had kicker Greg Zuerlein scored from either 32 or 43 yards, they could have taken sole possession of first place in the AFC East.

Instead, they fell to 2-4 and third place in the division.

According to ESPN's Football Power Index as of Tuesday morning, New York has a 46% chance of making the playoffs. These odds are right in the middle of the pack – eighth in the AFC and 16th in the NFL.

While the addition of Adams will likely inject some adrenaline into the Jets' inconsistent offense, the trade does little to address what many fans and pundits see as the team's most glaring problems – namely protecting the 40-year-old quarterback won the Super Bowl.

Rodgers' affinity for Adams is well known, as The Post and others have speculated about a reunion since their split in Green Bay.

During their tenure together with the Packers, the Rodgers-Adams connection racked up 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns.

Those are the numbers that should make Jets fans blush, although it's not hard to imagine why Gang Green supporters have to see it to believe it.
