Pitt's Turning Point chapter is disbanded due to disagreements over a viral video

The board of directors of the Pitt College Republicans announced in an email to about 400 students and community members Wednesday afternoon that Pitt's chapter of Turning Point USA has dissolved.

Josh Minsky, president of the Pitt College Republicans and former vice president of Pitt's Turning Point Chapter, said he and other chapter officials resigned after Kirk posted a video of a girl seemingly touching her breast at the September event on Pitt's campus bared while debating Kirk.

“I think what Turning Point USA did was despicable,” Minsky said. “Whether she did (expose herself) or not, it obviously wasn’t intentional. I find this quite disgusting and despicable and I condemn Turning Point in the strongest possible terms. We have asked Turning Point to remove the video.”

“While it hurts to lose a club like this on campus, we at Pitt College Republicans remain committed to preserving free speech, open discussion and conservative values ​​on campus,” the email said . “Your beliefs are welcome on campus, and you deserve a club that allows you to speak openly about your opinions without being attacked for them.”

The organization had hosted one number from controversial right-wing speakers in recent years, including Candace Owens, Riley Gaines And James O'Keefeamong other things. Student Organizations frequently protested Turning point events.
