Davante Adams reunited with Aaron Rodgers in a trade with the Jets

Nothing has gone according to plan for either quarterback Aaron Rodgers or receiver Davante Adams since they left Green Bay.

Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his first game as a New York Jet in 2023. This year, the Jets started 3-3 and have already made head coaching and offensive line changes.

Adams, meanwhile, chose the Las Vegas Raiders as his landing spot because of his connection to then-starting quarterback Derek Carr, who was Adams' college quarterback at Fresno State. Carr is no longer in the picture there. In the two and a half seasons that Adams was a Raider, the team compiled a 16-24 record.

Hey, maybe their fates will change if they come together for one last ride. That was the logic when the Jets traded for Adams on Tuesday.

The Jets sent the Raiders a 2025 third-round pick that can be upgraded to a second-round pick if Adams is either named All-Pro this year or the Jets win the AFC Championship or the Super Bowl with the receiver on the active roster to reach. New York will pay the remaining $11.6 million of Adams' projected money for this season, as Las Vegas did not help them in that regard.

With Rodgers, Adams, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, receiver Allen Lazard and offensive lineman Jake Hanson, the Jets' transfer to Green Bay East has finally reached its final form. It's just too bad Randall Cobb isn't there to join the party.
