Harris interview is pre-recorded with “very minimal” editing

Fox News host Bret Baier responded to questions Monday about his upcoming interview with Vice President Harris, suggesting that if editing was necessary, it would only be for “timing” reasons.

“There were no prerequisites for getting the interview,” Baier wrote in a reply to another user on the social platform

“And if there are any edits – it will be very minimal in time and editorially the same Q&A,” he wrote, adding, “We are recording the interview right before my live show on Wednesday in Pennsylvania.”

Baier also posted a video online encouraging users to submit questions for the interview, which will air Wednesday at 6 p.m. EDT from the critical swing state of Pennsylvania.

The network announced Monday that Harris had agreed to appear on Fox's “Special Report.” This was her first conversation with the station, just weeks before Election Day.

The Democratic presidential nominee has participated in a series of interviews in recent days aimed at key voting blocs as the election approaches. The media campaign, which included both traditional and non-traditional media, demonstrated a comprehensive approach to reaching voters.

And after weeks of criticism from Republicans and supporters of her presidential candidate, former President Trump, Harris flipped the script — her campaign accused the former president of avoiding mainstream interviews.

The vice president's decision to join Fox News also follows an invitation from the network to host a second debate between the presidential candidates. Trump has rebuffed pressure from the Democratic nominee for a second forum since the first debate in September, seemingly closing the door for good last week.

The Hill/Decision Desk HQ polling index shows Harris with a slight lead over Trump nationally — 49.8 percent to 46.9 percent — with just weeks until Election Day.
