NFL News, Injury Updates: Raiders Reportedly Trade Davante Adams to Jets; Lions' Aidan Hutchinson undergoes surgery

After weeks of speculation, Davante Adams is heading to the New York Jets to reunite with his former QB Aaron Rodgers, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Jets are reportedly sending back a conditional third-round pick that could become a second-round pick depending on performance.

This trade came less than 12 hours after the Jets suffered an ugly 23-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills on “Monday Night Football.” It was the team's first game since the firing of head coach Robert Saleh, and the presence of newly appointed interim coach Jeff Ulbrich and new offensive signal-caller Todd Downing wasn't enough to save the Jets from costly mistakes.

Here's a look at some of the NFL's other top stories from Week 6.

The Lions' pass-rushing specialist leads the NFL with 6.5 sacks, but was carted off the field Sunday in Dallas with a confirmed broken tibia. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, he underwent surgery in Dallas and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season. Hutchinson had 11.5 sacks in 2023 and made his first Pro Bowl last season.

If you were to just look at the Dallas Cowboys' away results this year, you would find a 3-0 team that has some cleaning up to do, but was still able to pick up a few close wins or even losses over the 4-2 Steelers in Pittsburgh. But at home, the Cowboys were hardly competitive and were left almost exclusively on home soil for all but two quarters. The Cowboys have given up 119 points at home in three games this season – 39.7 points per game.

After the worst home loss of the Jerry Jones era – coincidentally on his 82nd birthday – Jones said he was not considering a coaching change, even as questions about Mike McCarthy continued to arise. The Cowboys are off in Week 7 and will play their next two games on the road.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Las Vegas Raiders are trading All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets.

When Adams arrives in New Jersey, a very familiar face awaits him: Aaron Rodgers, who was Adams' teammate on the Green Bay Packers for years. With the Jets' offense struggling, the hope is that reuniting Rodgers with one of his most successful on-field partners will help achieve all the success the team believes is out of reach.

The move ends a more than two-year tenure for Adams in Las Vegas.

Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion on September 15 against the Buffalo Bills, was placed on injured reserve two days later.

Tagovailoa is eligible to return to practice on Oct. 23 after his IR stay ends, but McDaniel said a return this week is unlikely.

“As far as the schedule goes, I know he’s not playing this week,” McDaniel said in a news conference. “I do expect to see him playing football in 2024, but where exactly that is, we will let the process continue.”
