Phoenix's record heat streak ends today

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – A gradual cooling continues across Arizona today.

In the valley, look for highs of 96 degrees, which is six degrees above normal, but for the first time in 21 days, this won't break a daily heat record.

A weak area of low pressure will bring cooling temperatures to the mid-90s for today and tomorrow. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are also possible in the far north of the state from this storm.

A stronger storm system is on its way to Arizona with even major weather changes later this week. The valley will only warm to the lower 80s on Friday and upper 70s on Saturday.

The chance of rain appears to be ending on Saturday, but some lingering showers are possible in the valley during the morning hours. Sunday brings dry weather and highs in the mid 80s.

Friday's storm could bring the first snowfall of the season to higher elevations. Snow depth is expected to be around 7,000 feet with light accumulation expected. It will also be windy to locally windy across the state on Thursday and Friday.
