    Bills update status of WR for Jets game

    Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills' passing game face their toughest test of the season on Monday night when they take on the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, and may have to do so without their most productive wide receiver, Khalil Shakir.

    Will Khalil Shakir play against the Jets?

    UPDATE: Shakir is not listed as inactive for the Jets game, so he will play.

    Sean McDermott announced Saturday that Shakir is listed as questionable. He improved slightly over the week but will most likely be a game decision.

    If he can't play, it will cause problems for a team that has received very little production from the other four receivers played – Curtis Samuel, Keon Coleman, Mack Hollins and Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

    The Jets rank second in the NFL with 136.6 passing yards allowed per game, their sack percentage of 11.4% is also second best, and their net yards per pass attempt allowed is No. 4 at 4.3. 1, thanks in large part to arguably the best outside cornerback duo in the NFL in Sauce Gardner and DJ Reed.

    How did Khalil Shakir get injured?

    Shakir injured his right ankle while making a tackle after making a catch in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens. He had his right ankle bandaged by athletic trainers and returned to the game, where he led the Bills with four catches for 62 yards. Shakir was seen wearing a walking boot after the game. Shakir did not play in Week 5.

    Who is Khalil Shakir's replacement?

    Samuel has been limited in training for most of the week as he continues to battle a turf toe injury, an injury that has affected his performance all season. However, he is expected to play and he had a full practice on Saturday. The Bills will also need Coleman, who scored a touchdown in Houston, to fill the void left by Shakir's absence, and the same goes for Valdes-Scantling, who has just two catches on eight targets in his first five games with the Bills Bills scored for 26 yards.
