Daylight Saving Time 2024: When is it time to change the clocks?

It's almost that time again – time to turn the clocks back an hour and get some much-needed rest.

Changing the clocks one hour for the warmer months and back again for the cooler months is a tradition that Americans have practiced for more than half a century, and something that other countries such as Germany and Canada have been doing for longer.

This year, Daylight Saving Time in the United States ends on Sunday, November 3rd and begins again on Sunday, March 9th, 2025.

Every year on the second Sunday in March, the clocks are set forward one hour at 2 a.m. – i.e. to 3 a.m. – marking the beginning of summer time.

On the first Sunday in November, the clocks are turned back one hour and 2 a.m. becomes 1 a.m

“In the United States, this results in more hours of sunshine in the evenings during months when the weather is warmest,” the National Institute of Standards and Technology reported.
