Today there will be high temperatures, 10 degrees below average

LANSING, Mich. – After much-needed rain in our neighborhood, we're starting the week with cold temperatures.

The low pressure system that brought us the rain has moved east, allowing northerly winds to bring cooler temperatures to our neighborhood. This trend will continue into the first half of the week as high pressure builds to our west.

With these strong northerly winds there is a chance of a shower moving in today. However, most of the consistent precipitation areas will remain closer to the lake as these showers will be enhanced by the lake.

High temperatures will remain in the lower 50s through Wednesday, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 30s allowing for a chance of frost. The only obstacle to frost development will be the cloud cover that we observe during the night hours. This cloud cover keeps us warmer during the nighttime hours and makes it harder to reach 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

By Thursday, skies appear to clear and temperatures rise back to normal in the upper 50s/lower 60s.
