KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Florida football coach Billy Napier described UF's 23-17 overtime loss Saturday at Tennessee as a “punch in the gut.”

Former Florida Gators players who watched the game also felt this.

Here's how some former UF players reacted on social media during and after the game.

Former Florida safety Ahmad Black, a member of UF's last SEC and national title team in 2008, was upset with Napier's decision to hit Eugene Wilson III with a jet sweep on 4th-and-inches from the 18-yard in the second quarter line from UT.

Meanwhile, former Florida All-American offensive lineman Shannon Snell (1999-2003) was upset with the overall game management and the short-yardage play request and also handed the decision over to Wilson.

Steven Harris (2003-2007), a former Florida defensive lineman and member of the 2006 UF national team, offered a more positive assessment after the loss and urged current players to keep their heads up.

Former Florida running back Ciatrick Fason (2001-05) offered support to Napier, who fell to 14-17 overall and 2-12 against ranked teams during his three-year tenure at Florida.

Florida (3-3, 1-2 SEC) plays Kentucky in its homecoming game at The Swamp on Saturday (7:45 p.m., SEC Network). The Wildcats (3-3, 1-3 SEC) suffered a 20-13 home loss to Vanderbilt.
