After the Dallas Cowboys' 49-7 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, there was no shortage of criticism of the Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy. On Monday, Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott defended his leader.

In the loss, Dak Prescott completed just 17 of his 33 pass attempts for 178 yards and threw two interceptions without scoring a touchdown. To put this into perspective, Prescott had 352 passing yards and two touchdowns just a week earlier.

Although Prescott strongly defends McCarthy, not everyone will be deterred from demanding the principal's job. On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter weighed in on the chances of the Cowboys releasing McCarthy before the end of the season.

“First of all, this is not (Cowboys owner Jerry Jones) story,” Schefter said. “NO. 2. Who from this team would you like to appoint as a better coach than Mike McCarthy? Who will take over on this staff? His contract expires after this year, so there is no reason for his team's best coach not to continue the season to end and then make a decision, especially given Jerry's story.

“He just didn’t make any coaching changes during the season. He was just as patient, if not more patient, than any other owner in the NFL. So that wasn't his story.
