The New York Giants' offensive woes continued Sunday night with their 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Giants entered the game averaging 17.8 points per game and faced a staggering Bengals defense that allowed 34.5 PPG over the last three games.

This was a huge opportunity for the Giants' offense to get out of control even without their top wideout (Malik Nabers) and running back (Devin Singletary).

It didn't happen.

“Hats off to the way the defense played,” head coach Brian Daboll said after the game. “I missed two chances in the kicking game. And then didn’t score enough points offensively. It starts with me.”

Daboll did what he could. He made five fourth-down attempts – three of which were successful – in an attempt to get the struggling offense back on track. The execution just wasn't there.

“It's probably due to several things. I’m going to go back and look at the tape,” Daboll said when asked why the offense stalled again. “I thought we had a few chances as the game went on. Be it running or passing. We turned the ball over down there on that drive, which was a good drive, and came away with no points. I think we were 5th out of 15 (in third place), somewhere around that.

“Now we were aggressive in the fourth because I thought we had to go against that offense. We just couldn't generate any explosive plays. We had the penalty. Other than that, we didn't make many explosive plays. This is in.” In short, before you watch it.

The Giants are averaging 16.0 points per game after six weeks. That's currently 29th in the NFL. The three teams behind them – Cleveland (15.8 PPG), New England (13.8) and Miami (12.0) – all have or have had quarterback issues/injuries this season.
