The Flames move past the Oilers in third place and remain undefeated

Jeff Skinner scored a goal and Stuart Skinner made 25 saves for the Oilers, who are 0-3-0 for the first time since 2015-16 (starting the season 0-4-0).

“We obviously didn’t get off to a good start,” Edmonton captain Connor McDavid said. “There were a few bad putbacks where some of those goals obviously didn't go our way. Ultimately, it's just not good enough. I'm sure there are many ways to explain this, but ultimately it wasn't good enough.”

Skinner gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead for the first time this season at 1:16 of the first period. He shot into the open net after Mattias Ekholm's slap shot from the left point produced a big rebound.

Edmonton appeared to take a 2-0 lead at 18:03, but Calgary contested the game for goaltender interference and the decision was reversed after a video review found that Corey Perry was interfering with Vladar's ability to play his position .

At 5:39 of the second period, the Oilers again had a possible goal, this time after Viktor Arvidsson was ruled offside before Derek Ryan's goal.

“Of course a few balls bounce our way, which I haven't seen in many games. I'm happy about that, but this is the first week so we have to keep going and get better,” Vladar said. “The first one I knew he was standing there, but when the shot came I think he was already out of the goal area. I don't really know. All I know is that my blocker got stuck there somehow, but to be honest with you, I thought it was a normal goal, but then I saw it from above and saw that there was a collision, so I am glad it was knocked over.

Andersson scored on a single shot to give Calgary a 1-1 tie at 7:30. He ran into the offensive zone, got around Zach Hyman to the left point, made another move around McDavid in the circle and hit Skinner glove side from the markers.
