In the spirit of playoff baseball, Monday's Week 6 game between the Jets and Bills is, to paraphrase Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra, like “déjà vu all over again.”

The Jets-Bills at MetLife Stadium under the lights Monday night marked Aaron Rodgers' debut in green and white last season, which ended four snaps into the game when Rodgers tore his left Achilles tendon.

This primetime contest will be the fourth meeting between Rodgers and Bills QB Josh Allen, who are each coming off their worst games of the season. New York (2-3) and Buffalo (3-2) have each lost two games in a row. Rodgers, who has a career-low passing rating of 74.9 against the Bills, will face a Buffalo defense that is without DT Ed Oliver and has given up 29 points per game over the past two weeks.

“We all know he’s a Hall of Famer,” Bills HC Sean McDermott said of Rodgers. “A really good player, incredibly smart and talented. He does a great job on offense. There's more than just the challenge of being an elite pitcher, it's the agility, the mental part of the game, and I just have so much respect for his game and the things he's accomplished over the years and how he did it.

Allen is the only starting QB in the league who hasn't thrown an interception, but has thrown 6 picks in his last 4 games against the Jets. His passing rating of 108.9 on Monday Night Football (min. 3 starts) is the fourth-highest rating in NFL history, but his passing rating of 83.6 against the Green & White since 2021 is the lowest of any team against Allen at least played three times.

“They play really tough football,” Allen said of the Jets’ second-best defense. “Their front is very talented and they also have a lot of talent on the back end. They have a great linebacker duo. It's hard to play against them. The number one will establish the run and try to get involved in it. “Then we will know exactly where the football is going and how quickly we can get it out of our hands again.”
