Mets fans have adopted Iglesias' hit song as the team anthem for the 2024 MLB season

OMG! Pitbull steps in for the Mets' postseason run.

The 43-year-old rapper will be featured on a remix of Mets second baseman Jose Iglesias' song “OMG,” which will be released on Friday, October 11, as the New York fan base celebrates their team's rise in celebrates the National League Championship Series.

Silvestre Dangond will also be featured on the remix with Pitbull.

Iglesias, 34, is a part-time musician and released the song in June under his stage name Candelita. He performed it for the first time at Citi Field and inspired Mets fans to make the track the team's anthem this season and bring “OMG”-inspired signs and merchandise to support the team at games.

As USA Today reported, the song and music video debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's digital Latin song sales chart.

According to Mets play-by-play announcer Evan Stockton, Iglesias first played the hit for his teammates in the clubhouse in April.

“It's a blessing, it's a dream come true,” Iglesias said during an appearance on the US show ” Diggin' Deep Podcast, He adds that he is “glad” to be able to “connect with people” through his music.

The second baseman said his team reached out to Pitbull management in hopes of having him as a feature on the track. Pitbull “immediately fell in love with the song,” Iglesias said on the podcast.

“The next day we found the trail,” the athlete shared, adding that it was a “privilege” to have the “opportunity” to work with Pitbull and Dangond.

The Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 4-1 on Wednesday to advance to the next round of the MLB playoffs with the World Series in their sights. After the win, the team celebrated with champagne in the clubhouse and danced to Iglesias' hit.

“A @Mets celebration wouldn't be complete without the entire team singing OMG,” Fox Sports wrote in a post sharing footage of the epic celebration on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Friends and family, as well as fans of the team, prepared for the celebrations with their “OMG” signs at Citi Field. The team's owner, Steve Cohen, was also seen holding a sign with the title of Iglesias' hit.
