Packers WR Romeo Doubs discusses his one-game suspension

GREEN BAY – Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs didn't explain why he missed practice on Thursday and Friday last week, which resulted in a one-game suspension, but he said it wasn't about his role in the offense and he wish he had handled things differently.

Doubs spoke to the media on Friday for the first time since last week's events.

“I would say some things happened off the field,” he said, without elaborating. “As far as the organization and the (coaching) staff, the players, there is nothing in that area. So I just want to be clear here.”

Doubs said he reached out to the team after returning from suspension earlier this week, but did not reveal what he said. He also said that everything was fine with his family.

“I’m grateful to be here now,” he said several times, later saying, “It wasn’t that big of a deal.”

Doubs practiced all three days this week and is expected to play against the Cardinals at Lambeau Field on Sunday, head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed.

“I absolutely wish I had handled things differently,” he said, adding that he needed to “stay in better communication” and that he wanted to show that he was a “team guy” in the future.

He once again made it clear that the desire for a larger role or more opportunities on offense had nothing to do with his unexplained absence.

“It’s a big offense here,” he said. “We have a few ballplayers in our room… it's much more important than just me finding my role individually. This league is all about winning football games.”
