Paul Hollywood breaks protocol to be first to demonstrate the technical challenge on Bake Off

Paul Hollywood broke that The Great British Bake Off Log this week as he demonstrated how to braid dough like a pro.

Typically, contestants on the successful baking show are given some intentionally sparse instructions on how to accomplish the tricky baking process during the technical challenge.

But on the show, which aired tonight (October 8), Hollywood instead demonstrated how to braid dough while contestants had to follow along.

The results were mixed, with one social media user commenting: “Too bad NONE of the bakers paid attention.”

Another joked: “Looks pretty easy. I can’t see anything going wrong here.”

Yesterday, former Great British Bake Off Host Sandi Toksvig spoke negatively about her time on the show and revealed that she doesn't keep in touch with her co-host Noel Fielding.

The 66-year-old left the series in 2020 after hosting it for three years and despite receiving “the biggest paycheck of my life.”

In an honest interview with The timesToksvig explained that she did not enjoy her time on the show and does not stay in touch with her co-hosts.

To the question Bake Judge Paul Hollywood said: “He’s so busy. “He drives cars so fast that it’s impossible to catch up with him.” When asked if she had been in contact with Could be Boosh Star Fielding, she simply said, “No.”

She gave a warmer response to Judge Prue Leith, saying: “Prue and I are joined at the hip.”

Toksvig, who is also known as the host QI, described that it is turned on Bake as “three of the longest years of my life”, adding that she didn't understand the point of the show and had never seen it before joining.

“It's not for me. I missed out on the biggest paycheck of my life, but that's okay. I had never seen it before. I still haven't seen it. I didn’t understand.”

She even went further and said, “Cakes are easily available in stores. I didn't enjoy the process. You stand at the end of a long table for hours while Prue and Paul try everything and we literally don't talk or taste anything.

“I kept saying, 'Can't we sit down?' I’m not contributing, but no.”

She also didn't enjoy tasting the food after filming, remarking, “Not really. My thing is cheese.”

Pointless Presenter and author Richard Osman criticized Toksvig when he commented on a post on the article: “I honestly don't think you should present shows you wouldn't watch.”

Viewers were left unsettled by the revelations, with one person writing: “I loved Sandi on the show, this spoiled me.”
