Municipal hours for Thanksgiving on Monday, October 14, 2024

Kawartha Lakes – Please note the following changes to community hours and service schedules on Monday, October 14 (Thanksgiving).

Administrative offices
All administrative offices and city service centers will be closed on Monday, October 14th. City service centers will return to regular business hours on Tuesday, October 15th.

Please note that the Kawartha Lakes Customer Service Department will be closed on Wednesday, October 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m for employee training.

For this reason, all four municipal service centers (Bobcaygeon, Coboconk, Lindsay and Omemee) as well as the municipality's general customer service telephone number will be unavailable during this time. For community emergencies during this closure, please call 1-877-885-7337.

Waste and recycling
The Lindsay Landfill will remain closed Monday, October 14th. The Fenelon Landfill will be open on holiday Monday during regular hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Landfill sites in Eldon, Laxton and Somerville will also be open on Bank Holiday Monday from 11am to 5pm.

Please remember that due to Thanksgiving, all curbside trash and recycling collection is moving forward one day:

  • Collection will be postponed from Monday, October 14th to Tuesday, October 15th
  • The collection will be postponed from Tuesday, October 15th to Wednesday, October 16th
  • The collection will be postponed from Wednesday, October 16th to Thursday, October 17th
  • The Thursday, October 17th collection will be postponed to Friday, October 18th

Please note that the opening hours at the landfills apply from winter service onwards Wednesday, October 16th and seasonal street collection ends on Friday, October 25th. Visit the Landfill page for full landfill hours or view the last page of your 2024 Municipal Calendar to learn more.

Public library
All library branches will be closed on Monday, October 14th. Regular hours will return starting Tuesday, October 15th.

October is National Library Month and the third week of October (October 20-26) is Ontario Public Libraries Week. Help us celebrate the critical role our public libraries play in improving education, promoting literacy and building community connections in Kawartha Lakes by participating in our Library Month events. Lindsay Transit
There will be no Lindsay Transit or LIMO Specialized Transit service on Monday, October 14th.

Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, October 15th.

Don't forget that our Monday through Saturday transit hours for both Lindsay Transit and our LIMO Specialized Transit services have been extended from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. starting September 29th. Find out more here.

Parks and Recreation
All parks and recreation facilities will be closed for Thanksgiving on Monday, October 14, 2024. This includes the administrative office, all recreational facilities, arenas and swimming pools. Facilities will return to regular operating hours on Tuesday, October 15th.

Please note that there will be no swimming or fitness classes, lessons and/or programs from Saturday, October 12th to Monday, October 14th.

Looking for something fun to do with the family this holiday weekend? Public swimming meets will be held on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th at the Lindsay Recreation Complex and Forbert Memorial Pool in Bobcaygeon. There will also be public ice skating at the Fenelon Falls, Little Britain, Manvers and Woodville community centers and the Lindsay Recreation Complex on Saturday, October 12 or Sunday, October 13, 2024. To view schedules and book your spot, visit the online program registration website.
