Game Thread #161: Milwaukee Brewers (92-68) vs. New York Mets (87-71)

The Brewers may not be playing for a playoff spot, but they certainly know how to stay the center of attention.

Milwaukee will play a role in how this October unfolds before it even begins. After last night's 8-4 win, they look to continue their role as spoilsports for the New York Mets.

Tonight's showdown will be a nationally televised showdown, the central storyline of which will be the Mets' playoff impact.

Jackson Chourio takes over the leadership duties, just ahead of midfielder Garrett Mitchell. After Sal Frelick's injury last night, Isaac Collins will start in left field. Rhys Hoskins starts at first base, with Andruw Monasterio, Willy Adames and Joey Ortiz filling out the rest of the infield.

William Contreras starts behind the plate and finally Gary Sanchez starts as designated hitter. Conteras has posted a .333 batting average over the last 15 games while walking 11 times compared to 13 strikeouts.

The Mets starter will be Jose Quintana, with the 35-year-old veteran sporting a 3.74 ERA. According to FanGraphs, his expected numbers aren't quite as good at 4.67 FIP and 4.49 xERA, but he's having one of his best runs of the season. In his last three starts, Quintana has not allowed a single run over 20 23 innings.

First pitch is at 6:15 p.m. with national coverage on Fox.
